Food and drink distributor Pelican Rouge has outsourced management of its UK fleet to Fleet Hire.
The Solihull-based contract hire, fleet management, and salary sacrifice provider is responsible for Pelican Rouge’s fleet of 1,000 UK vehicles.
Pelican Rouge was founded in 1949, and operates in seven different countries. Its fleet in the UK and Ireland consists of 65% light commercial vehicles, and 35% cars.
Already tasked with supplying 15% of the Pelican Rouge UK and Ireland fleet, Fleet Hire was chosen to fund and manage it in its entirety earlier this year.
As a result of the deal, Pelican Rouge hopes to save costs, introduce risk management, and provide greater reporting of fleet and driver performance.
Fleet Hire introduced an online portal to enable access to live fleet data, in addition to a support system with a driver helpline.
Mark Hodgson, senior fleet manager for UK and Ireland at Pelican Rouge, said: “We have seen significant financial and operational benefits, thanks to Fleet Hire’s fleet management expertise and professionalism, and we are very pleased with the progress to date.”
Nick Poole, sales director of Fleet Hire, said: “We have been able to ensure that the UK and Ireland fleet is now being run in a more efficient, cost effective, and controlled manner, and we have a number of changes in the pipeline which will allow us to take this process still further.”
