Lombard has appointed Hiten Sonpal to the newly-created role of head of specialist sectors.
The sectors covered by this role are renewable energy, manufacturing, commercial transportation and agriculture.
The new role reports to Paul Roberts, director of external relationship management.
Sonpal has held a number of senior roles at Lombard, with his latest role being director of green energy finance.
Roberts said: "Hiten has made a significant contribution to raising awareness of green and renewable energy funding not just with Lombard customers but across the wider market. We believe that the enthusiasm and expertise that he brings to his new role will have a similar impact in differentiating Lombard’s offering in the other specialist areas under his guardianship."
At the end of last year, Sonpal was one of the industry experts who talked to Leasing Life about the new dynamics in the European clean technology finance market.
