Photograph of Joanne Davis, ShoosmithsWhat was
your first ever job?
I Pharmacist assistant after school
and Saturday mornings. I loved the independence of earning my own
money at such a young age without relying on my parents.

Where’s the best place
to go if you want to find out what’s really going on in the
office?
A night out with our trainee solicitors. They know
everything!

What time do you usually
leave the office?
8pm. I then log on again at home from
9pm until 11pm twice a week. It allows me to keep my weekends free
by working longer hours in the week.

What do you do at
weekends?
Enjoy my life living in the Cotswolds and making
time for my friends and family. The best things in life are
free.

What’s your favourite
restaurant?
The Restaurant at Cowley Manor, near
Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. It’s close to my home and it’s
amazing!

current job, what would you be?
A writer or alternatively
working for a trade association or government department where I
can influence new policy and laws.

role model?
In business, Richard Branson. I like reading
the lessons he has learned and the tests that he sets himself,
outlined in the epilogue of his book Screw It, Let’s Do
It
. These are: just do it; think yes, not no; challenge
yourself; have goals; have fun; make a difference; stand on your
own feet; be loyal; live life to the full; and nothing ventured,
nothing gained.

What is the best thing
about your job?
The clients and delivering a good service,
working with the best team and supporting the credit and asset
finance industry as much as I can.

biggest work mistake?
Presuming what a client wants.
Taking time out regularly to get to know your clients and their
business well yields the best results.

Range Rover Sport.

One Day, by David
Nicholls.
