Hills Waste Solutions has ordered three new Volvo FH tractor
units on a five year contract hire deal.
The Wiltshire-based waste management contractor, part of the
Hills Group Limited, said that the FH-500 6×2 vehicles will replace
three Volvo FM12 6×4 tractors, and are expected to have
significantly better fuel figures than their predecessors.

Peter Moore, Hills Waste Solutions’ transport operations
manager, explained that the trailers “are already showing an
improvement of around 8 percent in fuel consumption”.
He said that the vehicles are equipped with Volvo technology
that allows monitoring of fuel usage and vehicle location, as well
as driver management and fleet scheduling.
The vehicles also have Volvo’s “globetrotter” cabs for overnight
accommodation – a result of Hills Group’s consultation with its
drivers over the specification.
