UK registrations for vans have started to stabilise, while heavy
truck registrations are still falling, November figures from
the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have
shown.
Vans were almost on the same levels of last year, while trucks
were some 55 percent down, the SMMT said.

SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt commented: “Although vans are
down 36 percent on the rolling year, the 0.8 percent decline in
November suggests registrations have stabilised.”
But he added that heavy trucks, which were almost 60 percent
down in November, are still suffering badly as a result of weak
business confidence.
He said: “It is vital that government uses the Pre-Budget Report
to sustain the early signs of recovery in consumer confidence and
enhance the capital allowances system to boost business
investment.”
