United Trust Bank (UTB) has appointed Jonathan Ayres as chief financial officer, who has joined UTB from English private bank C. Hoare & Co.

Ayres was most recently the CFO of C. Hoare & Co and previous to that was CFO of specialist fund manager Ecofin.

UTB said Ayres’ other roles have included head of finance at Cazenove Capital Management and equity analysis at Goldman Sachs, and that he qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse where he specialised in auditing banks and fund managers.

Ayres is currently the chair of the BBA’s small banks technical panel and a member of the BBA’s audit and oversight committee.

Graham Davin, chief executive of United Trust Bank, said: "Jonathan is a very experienced CFO with a great deal of relevant experience in our sector. I am delighted to welcome him to United Trust Bank where his appointment further strengthens our executive team as we continue to deliver strong growth."
