The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided UniCredit Leasing with four loans totalling €360m to support small and medium-sized businesses via leasing schemes.
The four loans cover UniCredit Leasing’s subsidiaries in Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. The German subsidiary gets €150m, while the others will have €70m each.
EIB vice-president Matthias Kollatz-Ahnen said: “The EIB has a record of excellent cooperation with UniCredit Leasing in order to increase the productivity and competitive capacity of this economic sector to help it better to face the current difficult times.”
The lessor’s CEO Massimiliano Moi added: “The strategic partnership with the EIB enables UniCredit Leasing to constantly provide a fundamental support for SMEs and mid-cap companies in the form of additional fresh funds, in an economic context in which interest rates for regular loans are still high.”
In the past two years, the EIB has provided SMEs in the CEE region with more than €555m in intermediated loans via UniCredit Leasing.
