Slovakia’s leasing market reported a 42.7 percent decrease in
new business in the first six months of 2009, according to the
country’s leasing association.
The Association of Leasing Companies (ALS) said that new
business volumes fell to €777 million, mainly because of the
smaller number of investments from companies and a steep increase
of insolvencies.

Equipment and vehicle leasing, which represent Slovakia’s
largest sector, dropped around 44 percent to €731 million.
The transport industry was particularly badly affected,
declining by almost two thirds, whereas the car leasing sector was
almost 30 percent down.
The country’s largest lessor was UniCredit Leasing Slovakia,
followed by CSOB Leasing, VW Financial Services Slovakia and VB
Leasing.
