Shawbrook Bank has appointed Kieran McSweeney as deputy managing director of its asset finance business.

McSweeney was previously joint managing director of Shawbrook’s wholesale division, which he jointly set up in 2013.

Shawbrook said McSweeney had extensive finance experience and has worked in the banking sector for 15 years, recently specialising in structured financing.

More recently, Shawbrook said its focus has been on growing Shawbrook’s wholesale business, where McSweeney was credited with negotiating funding for complex transactions.

McSweeney will report to Jim Cannon, the managing director of the asset finance business.

Cannon said: "Kieran has worked closely with most of our asset finance divisions for quite a while now and he understands the markets and our customer base. As such, I believe he is well-placed to support the overall asset finance business as we progress our growth plans for 2016 and future years."
