Raiffeisen Leasing International, the CEE network of Austrian
banking landmark Raiffeisen Group, experienced a 27 percent
contraction in business for its Romanian division over 2008.
The lessor, which financed €261 million of deals in 2007, only
wrote €191 million of business in 2008. Of that volume, equipment
deals made up 22 percent and real estate made up 3 percent. The
remainder comprised motor finance agreements.

According to ALB, Romania’s leasing association, the Romanian
leasing market contracted 2.6 percent in 2008, to reach a size of
€4.8 billion.
