Manheim Auctions has sold more vans and trucks online than ever,
the auction house has said.

In the first six months of 2009 the company sold 2,376 vans and
444 trucks online, for a gross sales value in excess of £11.5
million.

It said that this is as much as it did during the whole of
2008.

Over 15 percent of the nearly 40,000 commercial vehicles sold by
Manheim Auctions in the period attracted online bids, and 7 percent
of them went to online buyers.

Manheim Auctions held 251 CV auctions in the first six months of
2009, an had an average of 43 online buyers each time.

The auction house, which sells CVs via seven dedicated centres
across the UK, uses a service called Symulcast, which allows online
buyers to bid and buy vehicles in real time competing with other
online buyers as well as buyers in the auction hall.
