Italy’s Centro Leasing recorded a 60 percent net
profit decline in the first half of 2009 but managed to increase
its market share, the company has announced.

The lessor, which is part of the Intesa Sanpaolo
Group, said that net profit was €2.5 million, 60.8 percent down
compared to the same period one year ago.

But the company said that its market share
increased from 3.6 percent to 4.8 percent.

New business volume was €650 million, down 21.2
percent from last year, but the number of contracts was 11 percent
up to 9,520.

The company said it has put in place a cost
cutting strategy which has saved the company over 5 percent of its
costs.

Last year, Centro Leasing was ranked tenth
amongst Italy’s top lessors by new business volumes – reaching €1.4
billion.
