Ian Barker has been appointed as the head of BNP Paribas Rental Solutions UK, the company’s commercial vehicle and fleet management arm.

Barker has been with BNP Paribas for 24 years, working across several key markets including agriculture, materials handling and commercial vehicles. Barker began his finance career at NWS Bank, a subsidiary of the Bank of Scotland, before moving to Humberclyde Finance, which was acquired by BNP Paribas.

Tristan Watkins, chief executive at parent company BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK, says, “Ian is highly experienced and knows the leasing and rental market inside out. He will play an important role in driving the ambitious growth plans for this business line as we continue to grow our footprint in the commercial vehicle market.”

Barker comments, “I’m delighted to be leading BNP Paribas Rental Solutions. The commercial vehicle contract hire market has huge potential and I believe we’re just scratching the surface at the moment.”

A spokesman said as part of his new appointment Barker will join the BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions Executive Committee and play a key role in shaping the business’ strategic direction in the UK.
