Hampshire Trust Bank has appointed Paul Barter as business development manager in its asset finance team.

Barter will be based in Sale, Greater Manchester, and will focus on maintaining existing and building new broker relationships in the north of England, north Wales and Scotland.

Barter has 10 years’ experience in asset finance, working as a new car sales executive at Mercedes Benz in Macclesfield and in the Manchester area for Black Horse and motor finance broker DSG Financial Services.

Talking about why he decided to join Hampshire Trust Bank, Barter said: "Asset finance is becoming an increasingly attractive funding option. Indeed, figures released by the Finance & Leasing Association this month show that asset finance new business, primarily leasing and hire purchase, grew by 3% in September, compared with the same month last year, the 24th consecutive month of growth. The opportunity to develop my career with Hampshire Trust Bank was simply too good to miss.

"Hampshire Trust Bank’s asset finance team works with broking firms of all sizes, from sole traders to larger organisations, brokers looking to write quality business. There is an appetite for another finance provider and Hampshire Trust Bank provides the right offerings and service levels. It prides itself on its quick turnaround on proposals and payments and recognises how important speed and service are to brokers. I am looking forward to getting out and meeting brokers already in our network and introducing the bank to new introducers."

Hampshire Trust Bank’s asset finance team offer hire purchase and leasing, managing deals ranging from £5k to £200k, offering finance for cars and light commercial vehicles for business or private use, as well as a range of plant and machinery.

Mark Ford, director of asset finance at Hampshire Trust Bank, said: "Our asset finance division is going from strength to strength. We are delighted to welcome Paul on board. He is extremely experienced and an important addition to our growing team. Paul’s appointment enables us to cover a broader area of Great Britain and provide a more concentrated service to our increasing panel of brokers.

"At Hampshire Trust Bank we offer swift and efficient proposal and completion turnarounds, and value strong, long-term relationships with our intermediaries. This appointment will enable us to continue to build on what is an encouraging time for us."
