The European commercial vehicle market continued its fall during
the summer months, with new registrations declining by 33.7 percent
in July and 35.1 percent in August.
According to ACEA, Europe’s vehicle manufacturers’ association,
in the first eight months of the year the total drop reached
37.4 percent compared with the first eight months of 2008.

New light CV registrations decreased 36.5 percent over Europe,
where not a single country posted a growth. The worst affected
countries were the Czech Republic, Spain and the UK, which declined
63.7, 46.3 and 44.1 percent respectively.
Heavy commercial vehicles were down 47.9 percent in the period,
with new EU member states reporting the most significant
contractions, with Poland down 69 percent and Romania 73
percent.
Registrations of commercial vehicles between 3.5 and 16 tonnes
declined 43.7 percent over eight months, with Spain down almost 70
percent and Poland 62.7 percent.
