New commercial vehicle registrations across Europe declined
another 30.7 percent in October 2009 compared to the same month
last year, statistics from the European Automobile Manufacturers’
Association (ACEA) have shown.

New van registrations were 25.5 percent less, with new EU member
states worse hit (- 53.3 percent) than Western European countries
(- 21.7 percent).

Registrations of trucks between 3.5 tonnes and 16 tonnes dropped
52 percent in Western Europe and 62 percent in Eastern Europe.

Similarly, heavier truck registrations were 55 percent down in
Western Europe and 65 percent down in new EU member states.
 
Between January and October 2009, the results were 35.7 percent
below the level over the same period in 2008.

According to ACEA, this is the eighteenth consecutive month of
decline for the CV sector in terms of new registrations.
