A Bombardier Transportation’s spokesperson said that the
contract, signed earlier this month, was funded by Lloyds TSB.
Lloyds TSB is a new entrant into the train leasing market
alongside Angel Trains, HSBC Rail and Porterbrook, the three UK
ROSCOs with which Bombardier has been working until now.
Last year, the UK banking group was one of the companies
within a consortium – which included BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank
– that also acquired Porterbrook from Abbey.
The new trains funded by Lloyds TSB will operate on the Stansted
Express services between Stansted Airport and central London.
All coaches are to be delivered between March and June 2011.
Bombardier will maintain the trains for three years.
