Angel Trains has won its second major contract in as many weeks,
the latest one being with the Dutch government for its new high
speed rail link connecting key transport networks at Amsterdam with
Rotterdam.
Angel Trains Cargo, the locomotives leasing division of Angel
Trains International, has started leasing the bombardier TRAXX
locomotives to Dutch operator NS Hispeed.
The locomotives, which include three electric variants and one
diesel-electric variant, will enable passengers to travel between
central stations at Rotterdam and Amsterdam in just 43 minutes
while travelling at 160 km/h.
In total, some 1,400 TRAXX locomotives, which are reportedly
ideal for Europe-wide deployment as they can operate under four
voltage systems, have been sold and around 800 are hauling freight
around Europe.
Last week it was announced that Angel Trains had won a bid to
lease trains for use on the new direct rail link between the West
Yorkshire town of Calderdale and London.
