Volkswagen Group Leasing
(VGL) said its new vehicle leasing
division for Britain’s public sector has signed deals with 30
customers in its first month of trading. New clients include
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, South Western Ambulance Service
NHS Trust and NHS Blood & Transport.

Last year, VGL — the fleet and corporate
leasing arm of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS), which is part
of Volkswagen, the German car maker — was shortlisted as one of
the government’s preferred suppliers.

Volkswagen group leasing (pictured left), said he was pleased with
the start VGL had made.  The most popular car model leased to
public-sector clients is the Skoda.

To meet the public sector opportunity VWFS
implemented the CALMS32 online fleet management platform from
business technology company White Clark Group which has generated
over 25,000 quotes since May.

Ed White, chairman of White Clarke Group,
said: “This whole project has very much been one of partnership,
the way we like to work with all our clients.

“And its modern object-oriented architecture
makes CALMS2 an ideal candidate for any fleet management
undertaking, particularly where significant bespoke work may be
required.

Last month,
Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) appointed Martin Phillips as
head of fleet operations
within its fleet and corporate leasing
arm. Philips will oversee a plan to double the division’s fleet
size (currently about 47,000) in an effort to boost growth.
