Women and men from across the asset finance and leasing sector attended the third and latest Women in Leasing networking event at Grant Thornton’s London Finsbury Square office.

The event covered effective communication and career management, and included presentations from Rich Green of CIT, John Bennett, former managing director EMEA of Bank of America, and Pauline Stewart, from Inspirati, a female leadership development organisation.

Women in Leasing, an initiative of the Leasing Foundation, will celebrate its first anniversary in April, and since its inception the programme has seen an increase in the number of male and female participants.

Madeleine Bowd, managing director of LPM Outsourcing, said: "The challenge is for business leaders to ensure that we endorse this initiative from the top down, involving as many of our people as possible in future events."

Women at the meeting were given the opportunity to practice an ‘impression pitch’, a concentrated professional and personal profile, alongside coaches, Foundation Governors and male peers.

Mike Hartley, managing director at Praetura Asset Finance, said: "It was great to see people learning and laughing at the same time.

"The guest speakers were excellent and I learned a lot from their thoughts and views about life and business that I will put into practice myself."

Women in Leasing leader Mary McNamara, who also serves as chair of the Leasing Foundation Governors, said: "We aim to get everyone in the room involved in the planning and development of our events and how we should evolve.

"Women in Leasing is a network owned by the people in the sector – both men and women. It’s great that we are able to enable that," she added.
