The leasing unit of Banca Comerciala Romana
(BCR), Romania’s largest commercial bank, expects to meet forecasts
and have financed goods worth up to €480 million by the end of
2008, up from €400 million in 2007.
As a whole, the domestic leasing market in
Romania is estimated to reach €5 billion in 2008.

Claudiu Stanescu, the company’s CEO, also announced that the
value of goods financed by BCR Leasing increased 65 percent
year-on-year to €291 million, with commercial vehicle leasing
registering the most growth.

Separately, vehicle manufacturer Dacia, part of the French
Renault group, has announced that year-on-year, leasing contracts
fell by 59 percent in November 2008. This compared to a 22 percent
year-on-year drop in October.

As a result, the manufacturer has announced it will cease new
vehicle production until mid-January, in an attempt to reduce its
stocks and save costs.
