The total value of new leasing volumes provided by the Polish leasing sector increased by 23% year-on-year in Q1 2016, reaching PLN 13bn (€2.9bn), according to Zwiazek Polskiego Leasingu (ZPL).

Vehicle leasing was the strongest segment of the market, with new leasing volumes increasing by 33.6% year-on-year to PLN 5.4bn in the first quarter of the year.

In addition, heavy transport (airplanes, trucks and trains) new leasing volumes increased by 52.3% year-on-year to PLN 4.3bn.

Equipment leasing volumes dropped by 8.8% over the same period to PLN 3.1bn.

ZPL surveyed a number of sales executives in companies that it associates with, on their expectations for the second quarter of 2016. 36% of respondents anticipated leasing volumes in machines and other equipment, including IT, to grow in Q2 2016; while 7% anticipated a fall.

50% anticipated growth in the finance market for heavy transport, while 36% expected the passenger and commercial vehicle market to grow.
