The department will be led by director Andy Veares, who will be joined by four commercial banking directors, Paul Robinson and Simon Vallance, previously of Santander, and Mark Byrne and Andrew Cremin, formerly of Lloyds Banking Group.
The large commercial banking team will consist of 10 employees, and will focus on companies with a turnover above £10m (€11.6m) and debt greater than £3m.
The team will be tasked with supporting these companies with day-to-day banking requirements, and will include such as management buy-ins and outs and asset purchases.
Andy Veares, director of large commercial banking at Metro Bank said: “I’m delighted to welcome Paul, Simon, Mark, and Andrew to the growing team.
“They will each play a valuable role not just in the team, but in the direction of our commercial bank, and I look forward to working with all four of them.”
