Mazda Contract Hire, the business finance offering of the Japanese car maker, has almost doubled registrations in the first three months of its financial year according to a statement from Mazda Motors UK.

From April to June the company put more than 300 vehicles on the road compared with 153 in the same period of 2013. This puts the company on track to beat the 2013/14 record year when the company leased 1,133 cars, which was already a 214% increase on the previous year.

Mazda’s head of fleet Steve Tomlinson put a lot of the credit for the rise in demand down to more competitive rates on their Mazda6 model and on the recently launched Mazda3.

These competitive rates extended over to the corporate markets where vehicles such as the CX-5 SUV and MX-5 sports car were included in the deals.

Tomlinson said: "In the last 12 months demand for company cars through Mazda Contract Hire has gathered significant momentum and we see that continuing. As a result we anticipate 2014/15 to be another record year for the business.

"Corporate sales should be a major component of our dealers’ sales mix and Mazda Contract Hire, which delivers budgeted monthly motoring that is particularly important for SME businesses at a time when credit is tight, is a core channel for our dealer network."
The contract hire offering is available through all Mazda dealers but has six specialist fleet dealers spread throughout the country.
