With five
decades of success in global leasing and asset finance, Derek
Soper’s breadth of experience and expertise in the sector is
virtually unrivalled.
During his career, he has founded and
nurtured leasing companies for landmark names such as AT&T,
Barclays, Kleinwort Benson and Midland Bank. By the time he left
AT&T Capital to retire in 1997, it had a portfolio of over
€1bn.

Today, 13 years after supposedly
taking a rest, Derek is still making waves.
To many, he is known for consultancy
work with the Alta Group, whose European arm he launched after his
career at AT&T, and which he chaired until 2009.
Today he is chairman of International
Advisory Associates, an international leasing strategic
consultancy, and a non-executive director at Grant Thornton, one of
the fastest growing presences in asset finance.
He has chaired the UK Equipment
Leasing Association (now the FLA), as well as serving on
Leaseurope’s council, the industry future council of ELFA in the
USA, and the Finance House Association of Hong Kong.
