The newly formed Innovation Initiative from the Leasing Foundation is holding a series of breakfast debates this year to explore the asset finance industry’s relationship to technology.

The first event will feature James Alexander, co-founder of P2P lending company Zopa, as keynote speaker and will take place on 13 March from 8am to 10am at Metro Bank in Holborn, London.

The event is ticketed on a first come first serve basis. Panellists at the breakfast debate will include:

  • Ben Sher, managing director of Cloud Lending Solutions
  • Karima Haji, director of Auto Novo
  • Matt Hicks, commercial director of Codat
  • Justin Fitzpatrick, chief executive officer, DueDil
  • An as yet unconfirmed fintech specialist from DLA Piper

Ylva Oertengren, chief executive officer at Simply Asset Finance, said: “There are a lot of exciting new innovations emerging that would help us enormously as an industry.  We feel it is important to scan the ever-growing collection of solutions and bring together some of the most forward-thinking organisations that can really make a difference in our space.  The aim of these events and the associated working groups is to encourage collaboration, design solutions, shape ideas and inspire us all to tap into the benefits of new technology.”

The Leasing Foundation is an industry organisation that supports the business finance industry through personal and professional development.

The Foundation also offers a fellowship to more than 170 business finance professionals, and is partnered with Falmouth University for development of new specialist postgraduate programmes in Leasing and Asset Finance.
