German lessor Hannover Leasing is
financing the construction of three additional photovoltaic (PV)
plants in Apulia, southern Italy, following the financing of six
power plants which have been in operation in the same area since
the end of 2009.

The combined capacity of the nine
photovoltaic facilities will be 8.5 MW. Hannover Leasing MD Andreas
Ahlmann said that the investment will offer “attractive
remuneration” for the company’s investors.

Apulia is leading Italy’s efforts to
increase the number of PV plants across the country in line with
regional authorities’ plans to increase renewable energy
production. SunEdison Italia, part of US solar electricity company
SunEdison, will provide maintenance for the plants.
