Halo Corporate Finance has appointed Stephen Bassett as a non-executive director.
Bassett has over 40 years of asset finance and leasing sector experience, with much of his career spanning senior management and directorship roles at organisations including Schroder Leasing, Lloyds & Scottish Finance, Lombard, Wyse Leasing and Broadcastle.
Halo said that as a former managing director at Arkle Finance and the current chair of the board of trustees at AFPA Trust, Bassett brought a wealth of experience to the role.
AFPA Trust is a registered charity raising money for good causes by hosting events and improving connections for people in and around the asset finance, leasing, and lending sector.
Arkle Finance began as Weatherbys Finance, set up by Weatherbys Bank in 2003, but was renamed Arkle Finance in 2009.
Bassett has formerly served on the boards of several high profile organisations, including the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) and is also a non-executive director at the funder Rivers Leasing.
He joins the Halo Board, consisting of Luke Hultquist and Stuart Sterling, at a time when Halo continues to consolidate its strong position in the sector after showing 15 years of consecutive growth.
Halo Corporate Finance managing director Stuart Sterling said: “Having a non-executive director with the breadth and depth of Stephen’s industry experience is a tremendous win for Halo. This, combined with his personal drive and motivation, will greatly support the achievement of our strategic plans”.
Bassett said: “I am excited to be joining Halo’s dynamic leadership team during this period of growth and innovation for them and am looking forward to adding my experience to that of the Halo team at this important point in their evolution.’
In February, Arkle appointed Close Leasing founder Paul Bartley as non-executive chairman.
In June’s Leasing Life we reviewed an A to Z of Leasing and Asset Finance, which Stephen Bassett co-wrote with Julian Rose.
