Russia and Turkey beating European motor finance downturn – Finaccord

New car registrations in Russia and Turkey have outpaced those in EU nations, boosting the automotive finance and leasing markets in both nations, according to market research consultancy Finaccord.
Russia is the second largest market for new cars in Europe, behind Germany, and the largest for new-car dealer finance, estimated to be worth 20.48bn in 2012, or 26.4% of the total European market.
New registrations have grown even faster in Turkey, with dealer finance worth 3.68bn in 2012. Turkey’s share of the European dealer finance market rose from 2.3% in 2008 to 4.8% in 2012.

By GlobalDataPassenger car fleet registrations totalled 59,636 in Germany in November, a 3% drop year-on-year, according to Dataforce.
Year-to-date, the fleet market was down by 7% on 2012.
By comparison, private registrations in Germany totalled 90,385 units for the month, with year-to-date sales down 5.3% year-on-year.
However, 34,300 LCVs were registered during the month, up 16.1% compared to 2012, of which 18,356 were fleet registrations, up 14.8%.
Lex sets up MoD with non-combat fleet
UK fleet lessor Lex Autolease has won a further contract to provide the Ministry of Defence (MoD) with 1,000 vehicles for its non-combat fleet.
The deal was secured through the UK government’s Project Phoenix procurement framework, set up in March 2012, and takes the total fleet provide by Lex to the MoD to 3,828 vehicles.
The latest pool of unmarked vehicles will comprise of passenger cars such as Peugeot 208 and Vauxhaul Astra and light commercial vehicles provided through a contract hire agreement with full maintenance and accident management provision.
Burnt Tree awards and appointments
Shrewsbury-based rental and contract hire company Burnt Tree has won a Green Apple Environment Award, recognising the most environmentally-conscious companies, councils and communities in the UK.
The company was commended for its Project Revive to recycle or reuse parts such as body panels and bumpers, which has seen a 32% reduction of waste and a 97% increase in recycled parts.
The company has also appointed Glenn Murphy as contract hire business development manager, dealing predominantly with the North West, Cumbria, North East, Yorkshire and North Wales. Murphy previously worked for Ryder / HillHire where he was national accounts manager.
