Avis and LeasePlan fleet share for PwC
Luxembourg

Car rental multinational Avis and fleet-heavy
finance managers LeasePlan have collaborated to provide a car
sharing fleet programme for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in
Luxembourg.

The service will use an online booking system
to provide more than 2,000 PwC employees with access to a fleet of
electric and low-emission vehicles.

Leaseplan will provide cars, including the
Nissan Leaf, Renault Twizy, Peugeot 208 and Opel Zafira, while Avis
will manage the bookings, access and follow up service through its
Avis on Demand system.

Patrice Waltzing, partner in charge of
managing the car fleet at PwC, said: ‘‘By providing flexible
mobility solutions such as electric car sharing and by encouraging
alternative means of transport, including city buses and soft
mobility, we’re going a step further in our commitment to reduce
our carbon emissions as a responsible leader”.

BVRLA’s Lewis to step
down

John Lewis, chief executive of the British
Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) is to retire from
his position by June 2013.

Lewis will continue to work for the BVRLA
until then, during which the Association will conduct a recruitment
and handover process.

“In the meantime, I will continue to focus on
the many challenges our industry faces,” said Lewis.

Nissan’s electric
feedback

Nissan has received positive feedback on its
LCV fleet business from a panel of figures from used value guides,
leasing companies, physical auctions and industry associations.

Aiming to develop corporate business, the
marque canvassed opinion on topics including vehicle
specifications, vehicle conversions, dealer standards and the
Hannover show launch of a potential electric LCV.

Commenting on the talks, which included a
favourable reception of the brand’s product range, Nissan national
LCV sales manager Matt Dale said: “Nissan is a long term player in
the UK LCV market and we want to build a strong infrastructure
around network, sales and service, as well as further improve
residual values.”

Nissan sold 6,483 commercial vehicles in the
12 months to the end of August, maintaining the same 4.4% market
share as for the same period in 2011.

Pendragon marks 30th
birthday

Fleet lessor Pendragon Contracts celebrated
its 30th anniversary by launching a series of special
offers, customer promotions and online competitions, starting on
the 20 September.

The campaign, which will run for a year,
started with the creation of a special VIP area on Pendragon’s
website. Customers will be able to view the firm’s latest
offers and sign up for their guide 30 ways to reduce fleet
costs
.

Neil Francis, Pendragon Contracts’ managing
director, said programme of celebrations provided a way of
delivering value to customers through special offers and
promotions.

He added: “It’s also an opportunity to discuss
how Pendragon Contracts can help companies to make sustainable
savings on their fleets by reviewing their company car policies and
budgeting for longer term, driver specific options that give them
the best financial deals.

Isuzu heads west

Commercial vehicle distributor Isuzu Truck UK
has added AK Commercials to its parts and service dealer
network.

Based in Bristol, AK Commercials are “ideally
located” in proximity to the M4 and M5, according to Keith Child,
marketing director at Isuzu and would strengthen the company
network in the West Country.

Similarly, Kevin Archer of AK Commercials was
looking forward to the work available from the “healthy Isuzu
vehicle parc in the area”.

CLM appoints Cotton

Simon Cotton has replaced Chris Allgood as
head of account management at fleet manager CLM, based in Newport
Pagnell.

Cotton, who will oversee all customer
relationships for CLM, has 30 years’ experience in finance and
leasing, including 18 years of leasing and funding large fleet
vehicles at the Bank of Scotland.

Speaking about the onus on customer service in
his new role, Cotton said independent fleet managers such as CLM
were “smaller, nimbler and more flexible. It is able to personalise
its services and tailor and refine its products to meet the exact
needs of its clients in a way that a large bank-backed organisation
never can”.
