European fleet markets up 11.7% – Dataforce

The top five European fleet markets saw an increase of 11.7% in February’s registrations year-on-year, with Spain and Italy leading the charge to market recovery according to data collected by Dataforce, the automotive research firm.

Spain’s fleet market grew by 17.2% with the Italian market reporting a 25.2% increase.
Outside of the five largest markets, the two leaders were Sweden and the Czech Republic with growth rates of 22.5% and 29.9% respectively.

Belgium and the Netherlands saw modest declines in registrations of 3.9% and 4.9%.

Volkswagen and Renault continued to dominate the car brand’s market share, but Skoda’s growth of 57% was the most noticeable gain of any marquee.

European CV registrations up 13.7% in Feb

Similarly to the fleet market, European commercial vehicle registrations grew by 13.7% year-on-year in February, the sixth consecutive month of growth, according to ACEA – the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

A total of 125,241 commercial units were registered during the month, with growth recorded across all segments.

Spain reported the most significant growth with a 49.2% rise year-on-year while registrations in Germany were up 19.6%, up 16.3% in the UK, 13.3% in Italy and 2.9% in France.

When the figures for January and February are combined, the total European market grew 8.7% with France the only one of the five major markets to post a decline (-1.1%) year-on-year.

Light commercial vehicles, the largest commercial segment, grew 13.2% in February with Spain (51.4%) and the UK (28.2%) experiencing the largest growth.

Burnt Tree launches fleet management platform

Burnt Tree, the commercial vehicle rental and contract hire company, has launched FleetForce, a fleet management software tool.

The product offers a suite of fleet management services across all IT platforms including tablets, allowing both the rental and contract hire divisions to access the latest information on their fleet and its status, wherever their location.
