First Asset Finance, the London-based structured asset finance broker, has appointed a commercial director.

Robert Taylor, an ACIB qualified banker and a fellow of the Leasing Foundation, has 17 years asset finance experience.

He has held a similar role at LHE Finance where he was responsible for transforming the business from an asset finance brokerage to a captive own-book funder.  Prior to LHE, Taylor held senior business development positions at Lombard Corporate Finance, Bank of Scotland, HSBC and Barclays.

Taylor will be working alongside Patrick Sherrington, and focus on developing new relationships with banks, lessors and vendors as a key part of First Asset Finance’s growth strategy to expand their residual value funding and asset management products to both funders and mid and large-sized corporates.

Simon Jones, director of First Asset Finance, said: “We are extremely pleased that Robert has joined our team.  Robert is well known and respected throughout our industry, and has wide-ranging asset and customer experience in many sectors.  Robert will deliver significant benefits to our business and our customers. “

Robert Taylor said “I am delighted to be joining First Asset Finance at such a positive time in the Group’s development. FAF offers a unique combination of structured asset finance skills, own book and external (third party) residual value funding and asset management services. “
