ANIASA, Italy’s short and long term rental companies association, has appointed Fabrizio Ruggiero as president.
Ruggiero, who currently also holds the position of managing director of Europcar Italy, will succeed Paolo Ghinolfini in serving a three-year mandate from 2014 through to the end of 2016.
In an auto market struggling to show signs of recovery, the rentals sector accounted for 18.6% of registrations nation-wide in 2013, with a turnover of more than 5m and a fleet of over 680000 units.
More than 65,000 companies use leasing services in Italy, with over 4.5 million rental contracts signed last year.
Commenting on his appointment, Ruggiero said: "The primary objective of my mandate will be to further consolidate the relationship with institutions, even on a local level, to reinforce the role of the sector within new mobility strategies."
