- Very little demand in the UK for low tonnage machines.
- UK demand continues to decline as the majority of manufacture
is carried out in the Far East. - Majority of machines sold for export, however, demand starting
to weaken.
Injection moulding: 250 – 500 tonnes
- European demand remains slow for mid-size moulders, as it is
still economical to ship components from the Far East. - Demand remains steady from overseas markets.
Injection moulding: over 500 tonnes
- Demand remains steady within the UK and Europe for
high-capacity machines where manufacturing is still ongoing. - Demand stronger for leading brands.
- Potential for increase in demand as raw material costs drop in
line with the drop in oil prices.
Blow moulding
- Limited demand from UK and Europe as such machines are
predominantly used for bottle production and there is adequate
capacity in the European market place. - Competition from low-cost machines supplied from the Far
East. - Demand from Middle East and South America for older
branded machines.

By GlobalData- Demand remains steady, however very limited demand in the UK
market place for such machines. - Demand from overseas purchasers for low-priced equipment.
Extrusion (film and packaging)
- Limited demand for blown film extrusion lines.
- Plastic bag converting struggling to sell (unless late or
special purpose).
Extrusion (sheet/profile/industrial)
- Demand reducing for PVC-U extruders and converting for window
frame manufacture with decline in UK house building sector and
general economic decline. - Industrial profile and extrusion equipment seeing a reduction
in demand and further reductions expected given the expected
decline in automotive and other manufacturing areas.
Shredding and granulation
- Increased demand for recycling equipment as appetite for
recycling increases in line with the Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment directive. - Demand also increasing from companies reprocessing and
remoulding waste product. - Reduced commodity prices could result in a downturn in demand
for reprocessing equipment.
