CEDA represents more than 70 firms dedicated
to the supply, installation and servicing of catering equipment.
Bibby Leasing has established itself as a key part of CEDA’s social
calendar, regularly supporting events.

Becoming an associate member – one whose
business is complementary to that of full-member catering equipment
distributors – has given the lessor invaluable publicity.
“From Bibby’s point of view, it has definitely
been a great vehicle to getting its name known among distributors
and getting to know key people within the sector,” said CEDA
director Peter Kay.
Kay added that many catering equipment firms
have chosen Bibby Leasing as their preferred leasing partner simply
because they know the staff at the leasing company.
This choice, however, according to Kay, has
also depended on the ability of Bibby Leasing to remain in a sector
which many other leasing companies have pulled out of. By
continuing to financially support the industry, Bibby is now “well
respected”, he said.
Carol Roberts, the lessor’s MD, said the
catering equipment sector has been badly affected by the credit
crunch, and credit lines have been withdrawn from banks. Several
larger leasing companies have also exited the sector.
Unlike other lessors, Roberts added, Bibby
Leasing is committed to remaining in a sector in which it has
gained expertise over 28 years. It claims to be the only finance
company with associate membership status of CEDA.

• The Catering Equipment
Distribution Association is a separate association from the
Catering Equipment Manufacturers and Importers Association, which
represents catering equipment manufacturers, although the two
associations have joint industry training and standards and
cooperate in several projects. CEDA currently has more than 70 full
members, as well as associate members.
