Aviation industry professionals Ray Sisson and Ed Wegel have launched the commercial aircraft lessor AVi8 Air Capital.
The co-founders said they founded AVi8 to “take aircraft leasing to the next level”, and the company said they would provide “more nimble, solutions focused” services.
The aircraft lessor will be based in Dublin, with a commercial office in Miami, and says it will focus on acquiring narrow-body commercial aircraft to build its fleet.
Sisson and Wegel will serve as executive chairman and chief executive officer of AVi8 respectively.
Sisson served as president and chief executive officer of Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS) from 2010 to 2016, and has previously worked at GE Capital Aviation Services and SR Technics.
Wegel has over 30 years’ experience in banking and aviation finance, and joined AVi8 Air Capital from Eastern Air Lines Group where he was founder and served as president and chief executive officer.
Sisson said: “We look forward to establishing and growing the AVi8 fleet, partnering with lessors, airlines and manufacturers to deliver leasing and financing solutions to the global aviation community.”
