Aldermore has made Jon Flagg its risk director for asset finance and Clive Gould as risk director for invoice finance.

Flagg started his financial services career in corporate lending at NatWest and has over two decades of asset finance risk experience. He has held senior positions at National Australia Bank, CIT/Newcourt, HSBC and BNP Paribas, and joins the bank from GE Capital, where he led GE's asset finance underwriting activities.

Gould brings over 24 years’ of industry experience to Aldermore, along with invoice finance specific credit and risk leadership skills. He has spent the last 12 years at Close Brothers Invoice Finance, most recently in the credit risk director role.

Flagg and Gould will be responsible for underwriting, proposal and KYC, asset management and in-life portfolio oversight within Aldermore’s asset finance and invoice finance divisions respectively.

Both are based in the bank’s Reading office and report into Carl D’Ammassa, group managing director for business finance at Aldermore.

D’Ammassa said: “Last year, Aldermore’s business finance division originated £1bn in new lending so it is vital that we maintain a strong and effective risk management function. The wealth of experience that Jon and Clive bring to the bank will help us to continue to manage the division’s risk appetite in a prudent and transparent way, while giving us the ability to react quickly and flexibility to the financial needs of the UK’s fast-growing small and medium-sized businesses."
