BIBBY FINANCIAL SERVICES MAKES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT HIRE

Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has appointed a Yorkshire-based business development manager, intended to create business opportunities and support SMEs in the region.

Lauren Maloney joins BFS with 11 years’ experience in the financial services sector. Most recently, Maloney worked as business development manager for Pay4; she has also held relationship manager roles at Santander and the RBS Group.

Maloney will be based at BFS’s Yorkshire office in Bradford alongside 30 other employees, joining a team of four business development managers.

In her new role, Maloney will primarily focus on securing new business opportunities for BFS, with a particular focus on Sheffield and Doncaster.

HAMPSHIRE TRUST MAKES DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

Hampshire Trust Bank (HTB) has appointed an independent non-executive director as the eighth member of its board.

Astrid Grey joins from Lloyds Banking Group, where she had worked since 2008, having joined as risk director for corporate markets before becoming chief operating officer for commercial banking, and then internal audit.

Before that, she spent 11 years at Deutsche Bank as chief credit officer for corporate and institutional banking. She also held analyst positions at Credit Suisse, Moody’s and Crédit Lyonnais.

WESLEYAN BANK HIRES HEAD OF INDIRECT SALES

Wesleyan Bank has appointed David Brownbill as head of indirect sales. #

Brownbill, who will be based from the company’s headquarters in Birmingham, will report to sales and marketing director Simon Welling.

Brownbill will have responsibility for Wesleyan Bank’s vendor team, in addition to overseeing its relationships with brokers and affinity partners, which include the Law Society of England and Wales and the Law Society of Scotland. He joins from Paragon Asset Finance and has 28 years’ experience
in a variety of senior corporate finance positions.

Prior to joining Paragon, Brownbill spent seven years as regional director at Santander Asset Finance, and has also held sales management roles at GE Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland, where he recruited and developed asset finance teams presiding over high-value commercial relationships.

MAF APPOINTS YORKSHIRE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER

Broker Midlands Asset Finance (MAF) has appointed a relationship manager for the Yorkshire region, based in Swinton.

Kimberly Stephenson joins from Lloyds Bank, where she has held a series of roles in the SME and personal banking space since 2001.

Stephenson is the latest in a series of business development manager appointments for MAF since last year. Hires over the past 12 months include Stuart Buchan, formerly of Lombard, as well as Craig Bennett, John Horne and Tom Gawne.

Stephenson has the distinction of being the first female relationship manager appointed by MAF.

HENRY HOWARD FINANCE TO MAKE SENIOR SALES APPOINTMENTS

Henry Howard Finance Group (HHF) has appointed two joint heads of sales support. Nicola Evans, who joined the Newportbased firm as a business analyst in May last year, has become head of sales support.

Evans will share the role with her former colleague, Jane Brown, whose previous roles include vendor implementation lead at GE Capital. I

n April, the former chief executive of RBS’s UK Corporate Bank, Mark Catton, was appointed as the new group chief executive of HHF Group.

HHF was founded in 1996 and remains headquartered in Newport, Wales. Its pretax profit nearly doubled to £1.18m (€1.32) in the year to 31 December 2016, up from £615,251 in 2015.

HHF made significant expansions to its IT team in 2017, making five hires in the department across the year. There are now 115 people employed at the company in offices across England and Wales.

Earlier this year HHF reached the milestone of £100m lent in both its asset-based lending and its invoice discounting operations.

BNP PARIBAS LEASING SOLUTIONS APPOINTS CHAIR

BNP Paribas’s leasing division has appointed a chair to its board of directors, following the retirement of Carlo Thill.

Geoffroy Bazin has taken on the role of chair for BNP Paribas Lease Group in France and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions in Belgium, the two subsidiaries heading the group’s leasing operations.

Bazin is a 30-year BNP Paribas veteran who has covered a variety of roles across the group’s corporate and investment banking activities. He was most recently country manager for the group’s Switzerland operations, and will also take on the role of Luxembourg country manager.

WYELANDS BANK ADDS MD TO ASSETBASED LENDING TEAM

Sanjeev Gupta’s Wyelands Bank has appointed a managing director for its working capital solutions team.

Ian Flaxman will focus on expanding Wyelands Bank’s asset-based lending offering. He has 20 years’ experience in asset-based lending, with a track record of building UK teams specialising in supply chain, receivable, inventory and asset based lending.

Prior to joining Wyelands Bank, Flaxman was a director at HSBC, and also held senior management positions with Crédit Agricole, Aldermore Bank, and the National Australia Group.

REN LEGAL MAKES APPOINTMENT TO AVIATION FINANCE AND LEASING REN

Legal has made an addition to its asset finance team.

Guy Espitalier-Noel joins from Stephenson Harwood, having previously worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and as legal counsel at GE Aviation.

Espitalier-Noel acts for aviation finance banks, lessors and operations on crossborder aviation finance and leasing, including operating lease financings.
