OakNorth makes hires in South West, Manchester and Midlands
SME lender OakNorth is increasing its regional presence with the appointment of four senior team members in Manchester, the Midlands and the South West.

Overseeing lending operations in Manchester is Christopher Swarbrick, who joins as a senior director for debt finance from Europa Capital Debt Investment. He will be joined by David Rowlinson who joins from Investec as a director for property finance.

Christopher Richards, who joins from RBS, is OakNorth’s first Midlands hire, in Birmingham, while Tom Windett who joins from HSBC is the lender’s first South West hire, in Bristol.

Richards joins from RBS, where he spent 11 years, most recently as senior relationship manager with a portfolio of 40 complex banking relationships. Windett has over 12 years’ experience in deal structuring and transaction management for corporate, entrepreneur and family office clients, most recently at HSBC.

Henry Howard Finance adds to hard asset vendor finance team
The newly created hard asset vendor section at Henry Howard Finance has increased its team with two appointments.

Ben Bennett, senior account manager at Henry Howard Finance, joins the team from DLL. Prior to this he held financial roles during 25 years at GE Capital. Account manager Simon Dodd has over 30 years’ financial industry experience, and also previously worked at GE Capital.

Henry Howard Finance provides dealers and manufacturers access to industry technology, a sales-support service and funding facilities, offering credit-approval decisions within its online leasing portal, HowApp.

The hard asset vendor team specialises in working with dealers and manufacturers in the construction, material-handling and transport sectors. It is led by Marie Dunkley, who joined Henry Howard Finance in September from her role as UK sales director for construction, transport and industrial at DLL. Prior to this, Dunkley held senior roles at Hitachi Capital and GE Capital.

BNP Paribas Rental Solutions appoints head of operations
Commercial vehicle fleet provider BNP Paribas Rental Solutions has appointed a head of operations.

Ged Mellish joins as head of operations from Saint-Gobain, where he was regional fleet engineering manager, jointly responsible for managing 3,000 heavy and light commercial vehicles, including materials-handling equipment fleet leased to internal customers in the UK.

Prior to this, he was engineering compliance manager at Canute Haulage.

Societe Generale appoints UK head of global finance
Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking has appointed a UK head of global finance. Demetrio Salorio will replace Alvaro Huete in the role that Huete currently holds in addition to his position as deputy head of global finance. Salorio’s appointment is effective 15 May.

Salorio will oversee areas including asset finance, capital markets, natural resources and infrastructure. Based in London, he will report to UK chief country officer Sadia Ricke, and Huete. Salorio’s replacement as global head of debt capital markets will be announced shortly.

Salorio will directly supervise global finance activities in the UK, with responsibility for defining and implementing the UK global finance strategy in the country. Huete will retain managerial responsibilities for global finance, excluding natural resources and infrastructure finance, until Salorio is confirmed in his position, which will be subject to regulatory approval.

Salorio has been global head of debt capital markets since 2010. He was promoted global co-head of debt capital markets in 2008 and has been deputy head since 2007. In 2004, he was appointed as head of financial origination. Salorio began his career at Société Générale in Madrid in 1991, holding positions in debt capital markets and global finance activities.

COLG adds non-exec director to SME business Recognise
City of London Group (COLG) has added an independent non-executive director to the board of its SME business, Recognise. Louise McCarthy joins fellow non-executive directors Richard Gabbertas and Simon Wainwright.

Recognise, which will offer financial services to the UK SME sector and the retail and business deposits market, is in the process of obtaining a banking licence.

Henry Howard Finance expands Midlands team
Henry Howard Finance is expanding its network of account managers in the Midlands, in response to rising demand.

Ian Kavanagh and Aaron Khatkar will work alongside Paul Bedi, existing asset finance account manager for the Midlands, to provide SME finance in the region.

Matt Jones, head of asset finance at Henry Howard Finance, said: “In the past 12 months we’ve been taking on more account managers around the UK in response to an even greater need for bespoke and face-to-face SME financial solutions, with new members joining nationwide.”

Haydock Finance appoints commercial credit manager
Haydock Finance has promoted staff member Russell Mason-Hall to the new role of commercial credit manager.

Mason-Hall, who has been senior underwriter at the company for almost five years, takes on the new role that was initiated following continued growth in Haydock’s asset finance portfolio.
