The UK’s banking and payments industry registered a 5.4% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.95% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.54% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s banking and payments industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s banking and payments industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.84% in August 2021, registering a 0.6% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.34% share, a decrease of 3.37% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.31%, registering a 12.4% rise from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.82%, up 92% over the previous month.
Top five banking and payments companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 48.21% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s banking and payments industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
JPMorgan Chase posted 169 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 6.11% over the previous month, followed by Citigroup with 145 jobs and a 98.63% growth. Barclays with 137 IT jobs and Nationwide Building Society with 69 jobs, recorded a 30.48% flat growth and a 102.94% flat growth, respectively, while Banco Santander recorded a flat growth with 61 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.16%, down by 3.96% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.74% share, registered an increase of 31.15% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Senior job ads with 5.12% share, up 38.46% over July 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 4.98%, recording a month-on-month decline of 5.41%.
