Europe witnessed a 6.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the banking and payments industry in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
June 2021 has seen an increase of 5.12% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 16.12% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering decrease of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 57.41% in June 2021, a 9.25% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.4% in June 2021, marking a 5.63% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.93% in June 2021, a 4.4% growth from May 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 8.01% in June 2021, a 22.62% rise over the previous month.
Top five banking and payments companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 21.2% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s banking and payments industry during June 2021 over previous month.
KBC Group posted 912 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 25.1% over the previous month, followed by Banco Santander with 327 jobs and a 1.8% drop. SIX Group with 293 IT jobs and JPMorgan Chase with 235 jobs, recorded a 9.33% growth and a 54.61% increase, respectively, while Citigroup recorded a 46.15% an increase with 171 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s banking and payments industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 22.78% share in June 2021, a 9.84% rise over May 2021. Poland featured next with an 11.84% share, up 0.66% over the previous month. Czech Republic recorded an 11.74% share, a growth of 21.29% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.69%, up by 5.03% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 14.07% share, a growth of 22.92% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.19% share, up 13.7% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.04%, recording a month-on-month growth of 94.44%.
