Slovak transport leasing shows signs of recovery

Slovakias leasing market is slowly picking up, according to the most recent figures published by the Slovakian Association of Leasing Companies. The association said that the volume of leasing deals for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes was 14 percent up in Q1 2010 in particular, leasing of trailers was 26 percent up, and leasing of trucks 14 percent up

Santander and Zenith Provecta launch fleet solution

Santander Corporate Banking and Zenith Provecta, the fleet management specialist, have jointly launched a fleet funding and management solution for the UK market. Under the terms of the agreement, Santander will provide the funding of the fleet (including contract hire, contract purchase, and sale and leaseback), whilst Zenith Provecta will provide all other aspects of a “fully integrated fleet solution”.

Daimler FS restructures German business

Daimler Financial Services (Daimler FS) has announced a restructuring of its business activities in Germany, with all the central functions for the German and global businesses now operating under one roof. Mercedes-Benz Bank, the German subsidiary company of Daimler FS, will also set up a new Service Centre in Berlin, the company said.

Another deal for MAN FS with Hoyer

Transport logistics provider Hoyer has been awarded a new distribution agreement with flour milling company Bowmans Flour, and has selected MAN as its preferred truck supplier.

Booming sales of convertibles at Manheim and BCA

Manheim Auctions has just held its first BMW convertible auction, selling 197 vehicles for a total of £3.5 million. The company said it had 134 buyers more than a third of whom used Manheim Auctions online tool Simulcast for their bidding

New head at LeasePlan France

LeasePlan France, part of the European network of LeasePlan, has appointed Dirk Pissens as its new president. Pissens will replace Bart Beckers who has held the post as head of the leasing company for the past five years on January 1, 2011.

MAN FS scoops first B&Q deal

MAN Financial Services (MAN FS) has won a deal to finance 19 new MAN ten tonne rigids for B&Q, the UK do-it-yourself chain. These are the first ever MAN trucks for B&Q, which traditionally used a mixed fleet of light vans and 18 tonners for its home delivery services. James Prest, B&Qs home delivery regional contract manager, said: With our product portfolio continuing to expand, and with an ever-increasing customer base, a versatile transport solution was required for urban and rural deliveries.

“Contrasting trends” for UK CV registrations

Overall registrations of new vans and trucks in April 2010 were more than 21 percent down for the rolling year, showing contrasting recovery trends, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Almost 2,500 new trucks were registered in April 2010, a 17.2 percent drop compared with one year ago

Moody’s: Italian leasing ABS still deteriorating

The performance of the Italian leasing asset-backed securities (ABS) market continued to deteriorate during the first quarter of 2010, according to Moodys Investors Service. Manheim: used van prices 4.2 percent up in April

UK used van prices increased by 4.2 percent, or £179 (210), in April compared with March figures, according to Manheim Remarketing.
