Spalding-based Garn Transport has ordered 25
Scania R 440 twin-steer tractors to be delivered this year. The
vehicles are being supplied by Scania Limited’s Spalding depot on
full five year contract hire agreements.

The deal follows an order by Garn Transport
during 2009 for 8 trucks – which were the first Euro 5 Scania
vehicles in Garn’s fleet. All trucks are equipped with Scania’s
automated gear-changing system Opticruise.

Commenting on the deal, the transport
company’s MD Richard Garn said: “I find the combination of Scania
Opticruise and Euro 5 extremely appealing and the fuel returns to
date have certainly been impressive.”

He added that aftersales support was also a
factor in his choice to opt for Scania. The new tractor units will
be used in Garn Transport’s UK-wide distribution operations.
