The Captives Forum, the equipment manufacturers trade association, has received an ‘industry organisation of the year’ award following the China Leasing Summit in Beijing.
The award was passed to acting chairman Sven Jirgal, vice president and chief operating officer of Cisco Capital, at the Captives Forum meeting in Madrid on 8 October by IAA Advisory chairman Derek Soper.

Soper said; "It’s amazing and flattering that the Chinese should choose a European organisation to receive the award – they really like the idea of a ‘Captives Forum’ and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see one emerge there in a year or two."
Last year Soper wrote a series of articles for Leasing Life on the growth of China’s interest in the asset finance and leasing markets.
Soper wrote: "As part of its economic development, we should also expect China to support its major equipment manufacturers in the sale of their goods to Europe, the US and South America by establishing leasing and asset finance support, either through captive finance companies or investment in established providers."
