Slovakia’s leasing market is slowly picking
up, according to the most recent figures published by the Slovak
Association of Leasing Companies.
Although in Q1 2010 there was still a 8
percent drop in new business volume (to €333 million), the

The association said that the volume of
leasing deals for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes was 14 percent up in Q1
2010 – in particular, leasing of trailers was 26 percent up, and
leasing of trucks 14 percent up. Also, passenger car leasing deals
increased by 29 percent in the quarter, the association said.
The consumer and real estate segments, on the
other hand, reported the most significant drop (34 percent and 50
percent respectively).
Jurai Ebringer, president of the association,
said that because leasing was one of the worst affected sectors
last year, it is expected that the growth in industrial production
this year will have a “positive influence on several segments of
the leasing market”.
