Italy’s Sardaleasing has won a deal with
Sardinia’s local authorities for the leasing of 128 buses and
coaches.
The deal – for which the local authorities
have allocated €15 million for the first three years – follows the
local transport department’s decision to renew the public transport
fleet in the area. The overall leasing deal is for €119
million.

According to the head of Sardinia’s transport
department Liliana Lorettu, this will bring down the average age of
local buses from 16 years to six years. All buses are Euro 5
compliant, she added.
The local transport department plans to
replace at least 456 buses in the next few years.
An additional agreement is under discussion
for the leasing of ferries between Sardinia and Algeria,
according to Sardaleasing’s vice president Angelo Rojch.
