Lufthansa leasing profits soar 38%

Lufthansa reported pre-tax profit increases at its Irish-based
leasing and maintenance business Lufthansa Technik last year,
following its recovery from the 2006 industrial relations
dispute.

Turnover showed a 38 per cent increase to £178m, with pre-tax
profits more than doubling, rising from £5.8m to £12.8m last year,
according to accounts recently filed.

Of the increase a company spokesperson said: “The airline
industry experienced a buoyant year in 2007, which saw profit in
most of the group’s segments increase.

“Industrial relation problems, which marred the results of
Shannon Aerospace in 2006, were resolved in the second quarter of
2007, and the company operated profitably for the remainder of the
year.”
