A multi-million pound leasing contract is up for grabs as Poole
Council seeks ways to replace its existing fleet of 250
vehicles.
The local authority predicts that the vehicles will be replaced
over the next three financial years at a cost of £6.97m.

The financial services arm of the council is considering whether to
either raise the money through borrowings or operating leases,
while local councillor, Don Collier, told journalists that the
authority is likely to use a mix of buying and leasing. It will
also outsource some of the maintenance of the vehicles.
“Whilst it is often advantageous to purchase and maintain
specialist vehicles it is likely that the private sector will offer
better value for small vans and cars,” Collier told the Bournemouth
Echo.
The vehicles include refuse collection wagons, mechanical sweepers,
tippers, gritters, cars and people carriers. They are used across a
range of departments including leisure, legal, democratic services,
welfare benefits and social services.
