Business overlaps in two
LeasePlan UK companies are to be ironed out in a major
restructuring.
Under the scheme, all the commercial
vehicle and car business sourced by LeasePlan UK broker Automotive
Leasing will be rolled into Network, the Dutch lessor’s main
brokerage arm.

This is largely due to overlap, and
will enable Automotive Leasing to focus on its core area of
brokering public sector finance deals.
“There was a small size of Automotive
Leasing brokers who did exactly the same things that Network does,
so we decided to change this,” said Jo Elms, brand director of
Network.
The changes, due to come into effect
on 1 January 2009, will improve efficiencies while ensuring the two
companies are kept as separate entities. The public sector division
of Automotive Leasing will remain unaffected by the changes.
On the same date, AL and Network will
join the BVRLA as members.

By GlobalDataAlso, from 1 January employees within
Network will no longer be able to refer deals among themselves. At
an internal meeting of Network staff last summer it was agreed this
practice should not be continued.
Network, which specialises in the SME
sector, deals both with car fleet and van fleet. The majority of
its cars are funded on contract hire, and the majority of its CVs
are funded on finance leases. However, more CVs are being funded on
a contract hire basis, Elms said.
Jo Elms added that LeasePlan UK’s aim
was also to improve standards among its fleet brokers.
Having BVRLA membership will enable
them to adhere to its code of conduct, giving customers more
guarantees of professionalism and good practice.
