King Sturge Plant & Machinery, part
of the King Sturge international property consultancy, announced a
volume of £17m in machinery sales for year-end April 2008, up 35
per cent on the previous financial year. The substantial financial
growth was enhanced by King Sturge’s acquisition of British based
auctioneer, Bache Treharne, in February 2008 – factors which
contributed to the company’s market share increase and status as
the UK’s largest plant and machinery business.
Mike Hanson, who heads up King Sturge Plant & Machinery’s
national agency operation said: “The acquisition of the Bache
Treharne team was the key to consolidating our market position in
the Midlands. The online auction system has made it more cost
effective to dispose of machinery by auction.”
King Sturge has seen triple year-on-year growth over the past three
years; its year-end April 2007 total was up £6m on the previous
financial year. This was partly due to a print machinery sale of
£8.2m and the integration of Bache Treharne’s online auction system
in 2007.
